Its Brewdog time yet again.
Today, I’ll be tucking into another beer from the team who recently started another round of their ‘Equity for Punks’ for the US market this month.
In the first three days alone they managed to hit the $1m dollar mark and hope to hit $50m in the next six months.
With work on their new state of the art brewery in Columbus, Ohio coming along nicely, Brewdog are hoping the investment will build on their success within the American craft beer sector.
All being well, the first American Brewdog brew could take place as soon as November 2016.
Onto their beer which is cooling down nicely in the fridge.
Hop Fiction Pale Ale is made purely of pale ale malts along with a range of American hops including Chinook, Amarillo and Mosaic.
Its described as offering plenty of citrus and stone fruit from the hops as well as a dry biscuit backbone from the malts
Hop Fiction Pale Ale is straw in colour and although it only produces a small head which settles pretty quickly, It looks lively in the glass. With plenty of bubbles rising, it allows enough of the head to hold itself well around on the surface.
There is just touch of haze
The hops provide most of the aroma giving powerful grapefruit and lemon zest bursts mixed with the subtlety of apricot. Really fruity and tangy on the nose.
In the flavour, the hops are shining through again. Kicking things off with lots of tropical and citric zests which taste much like a grown up Lilt. A sweeter biscuity malt then comes in towards the end which leads you into a smooth and easy bitterness which balances every out nicely.
Overall, Hop Fiction light in body yet pleasantly smooth which comes together perfectly to produce an easy drinking summer time tipple.
